University of Wyoming Has 41 Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-MWC Honors for 2009 Fall Sports The average cumulative grade-point-average for Wyoming's 41 honorees was 3.37.
The Cowgirl Volleyball team had 10 student-athletes named to the 2009 Fall Academic All-MWC list, including junior JennaRae Jester who carries a 3.97 GPA in business administration.
The Mountain West Conference announced Thursday its Academic All-Conference teams for the five fall sports sponsored by the MWC. The University of Wyoming had 41 student-athletes honored.
The Cowboy football team had 12 individuals achieve Academic All-MWC, followed by Cowgirl volleyball with 10 and Cowgirl soccer with eight. Women's cross country had six individuals earn recognition, and men's cross country had five student-athletes named to the team.
Of Wyoming's 41 student-athletes named to the team 12 were freshmen, seven were sophomores, 12 were juniors and 10 were seniors.
The average cumulative grade-point-average for Wyoming's 41 honorees was 3.37.
The criteria for selection to the team are: a student-athlete must have completed at least one full semester at their university, must have achieved a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.00 or higher and must have been a starter or significant contributor to their team.
Academic All-MWC teams for winter and spring sports will be announced later in 2010 after completion of those sports' seasons.
