Wyoming Athletics Adopts New Mobile Ticketing Initiative
July 10, 2012
Laramie, Wyo. -
The University of Wyoming Athletic Department has activated a new mobile ticketing option that allows fans the opportunity to purchase tickets using their web-enabled mobile device. This new plan means easier navigation, faster transactions, and the ability to purchase your tickets for Wyoming athletic events from the palm of your hand.
In order to use this new program, powered by Paciolan Ticketing Software, smart phone users simply have to access WyomingAthletics.com. On the main webpage, there is a link that connects users to Mobile Ticketing and the ability to purchase tickets - season and single-game tickets, as well as mini-plan packages for all ticketed events.
"We are excited about the possibilities mobile ticketing will bring us," said Athletic Director Tom Burman. "This is another great way for our fans to feel more involved with our programs. It is our goal to make the ticketing process easier and more convenient for our supporters, and this is exactly the way to do it."
The new mobile ticketing initiative went live on Monday, July 9. Users are now able to purchase season tickets, single-game tickets and mini plans by accessing the mobile website. Once the tickets are purchased, users then have the option to determine if they would like the tickets held at Will Call, mailed directly, or to be printed at home.
The Athletic Department will also begin using QR (short for Quick Response) codes that can be scanned by a smart phone, taking the user directly to the mobile ticketing webpage. A QR code is a black-and-white two-dimensional code scanned by a mobile device. The code then redirects the cell phone to the webpage of which the code is connected to.
In Wyoming's case, QR codes will be found on brochures, schedule cards, posters, game programs and handouts for all Wyoming Athletic events. A user simply scans the code, using a QR reader application that can be easily downloaded for free by any IPhone, Android, BlackBerry or Tablet. The program will then read the code and redirect the cell phone to the Mobile Ticketing webpage.
From there, the user can determine, using just their mobile device, what tickets to which events they would like to purchase. This new program can also download a seat-map, and the database will automatically seat a person in the best available area.
The entire purchasing process can be done from the mobile device. This new program also will allow fans to participate in in-game promotions.
