Toys For Tots To Be Collected at Multiple UW Athletic Events This Week
Nov. 5, 2013
LARAMIE, Wyo. -
With the Holiday season approaching, the University of Wyoming Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Laramie Detachment #777 of the Marine Corps League will team up to collect Toys For Tots at three separate UW Athletic events this week. New unwrapped toys, checks or cash may be donated at the Cowgirl Volleyball match on Tuesday, the Cowboy Basketball game on Friday and the Cowboy Football game on Saturday.
Toys For Tots is a program that has been coordinated for years by the United States Marine Corps Reserve. All toys donated at this week's games will remain in Albany County.
Toys donated need to be new and unwrapped. Financial donations may also be made by cash or check. Checks may be made out to: Marine Toys For Tots Foundation.
"Every penny we raise and every toy we collect goes to benefit children in Albany County," said Charlie Hogelin, who is the Coordinator for Toys For Tots in Albany County. "The majority of the toys and cash we collect each year comes from the UW athletic events. We appreciate the involvement by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the games this week."
Last year, Toys For Tots in Albany County raised more than $6,200 and collected 177 toys for families in Albany County at the Wyoming-Colorado State football game.
The schedule for UW Athletic events and collection times where fans may donate to this year's Toys For Tots program in Albany County are as follows:
