Group earned a 3.04 grade-point average for the past academic year
Wes Maas oversees the coordination of any and all academic support for the student-athletes at the University of Wyoming, while serving as the primary academic counselor for the men's and women's golf programs. He joined UW in July of 2011.
Previously, he worked as an academic counselor for the football program at Florida State University from 2000-01 while working towards his master's degree. After graduating from FSU, Maas accepted a position with the University of Alabama as the athletic academic advisor for the football program, serving in that capacity from 2001-04. He then moved to Vanderbilt University from 2004-06 as an athletic academic counselor for the men's golf, women's soccer, lacrosse and bowling programs. He was also the Tutorial Coordinator for the VU Athletic Department. Most recently, he oversaw the coordination of academic support for the student-athletes at the University of North Florida. He served as primary academic counselor for men's basketball, men's golf, volleyball and baseball programs. Maas created and implemented the programs first full time Athletic Academic Support Program.
Born on May 25, in Jackson, Mich., he graduated from Newberry College in May 2000 with a bachelor's degree in sport management. He also graduated from Florida State University in the summer of 2001 with a master's degree in sport administration. Maas is married to the former Alison Lingerfelt, and the couple has two daughters, Emerson Avery, born in February, 2009, and Nora Ellyn, born in June 2012.
