GREENWOOD, Ind. (Nov. 3, 2016) -- Wyoming's Laura Beach has been named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSida) Academic All-District team that was announced this morning. Beach was voted to first team District VII in the NCAA Division I. As a junior, Beach earned second team honors.
The Lakewood, Colo., native has started in all 24 of Wyoming’s matches this season and holds a 3.95 grade-point average studying kinesiology. The senior middle blocker has tallied 222 kills this season, as well as 89 blocks. She currently leads the Mountain West in hitting percentage with .400 (222-46-440) and is 12th nationally.
The Academic All-District teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the sixth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
