The Cowboys embark on their first road trip under head coach as the Pokes Allen Edwards head to Missoula, Mont. to take on regional rival Montana for the first time since 2006. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Dahlberg Arena. Wyoming opened the season and the Edwards era with a win on Friday downing Western State by a score of 88-49. Montana opened the season with a road loss at USC by a tally of 75-61.

A Look at the Matchup
Wyoming was impressive in their season opener. The Pokes shot 52 percent (31-of-60) from the field and 44 percent from the three point line going 14-of-32. The 14 three pointers is tied for the third most in a single game in school history. The Cowboy defense was aggressive holding the Mountaineers to 31 percent (18-of-59) from the field and 27 percent (6-of-22) from the three point line. Wyoming shared the ball well on the night with 21 total assists. The Pokes also owned the boards out rebounding the Mountaineers, 46-31. The Pokes scored 30 points in the paint with the UW bench adding 27 points.
Montana fell in their season opener to PAC-12 foe USC, 75-61. Montana trailed by four at halftime, but the Trojans pulled away in the second half. The Grizzlies shot 39 percent (22-of-57) from the field and 35 percent (6-of-15) from behind the arc. Montana was out rebounded in the contest 39-32.
Each Team’s Leaders
Junior guard Alexander Aka Gorski and sophomore forward Jordan Naughton had career nights each adding 20 points in the Cowboys 88-49 win over Western State on Friday. Aka Gorski finished the night with a career-high five three pointers during his 20 point night. Naughton was just as impressive going a perfect 9-of-9 from the field to go along with 14 rebounds for his first career double-double. Junior forward Hayden Dalton finished the night in double-figures adding 10 points. He tied a career-high with two three pointers. Jason McManamen finished with nine points. He has 126 career three pointers one shy of cracking the top-10 in career triples at UW. Junior guard Jeremy Lieberman added eight points. He also added a team-high five assists. Junior forward Alan Herndon added eight boards for UW.
Montana was led in scoring by guard Ahmaad Rorie. He poured in 21 points in the season opener going 5-of-8 from behind the arc in 35 minutes of action. Forward Fabijan Krslovic was the only other player in double-figures with 10 points. He also tied for the team-high in rebounds with seven and had a team-best three assists. Guard Bobby Moorhead added nine points to go along with seven rebounds.
About the Series
Wyoming leads the all-time series 21-12 in a series that dates back to 1941. The Pokes have won three-straight meetings with the last coming during the 2006 season with UW winning 76-71 in Laramie. UW is 7-9 all-time in Missoula, Mont.
The Pokes faceoff against South Dakota State in a 7p.m. tip in the Arena-Auditorium next Saturday.
