The University of Wyoming Cowboy basketball team opened its exhibition schedule in the Bahamas on Tuesday night. The Pokes came away with an 81-74 win over the CTG Knights in a trip sanctioned by the NCAA. UW was led by in scoring by senior Jason McManamen with 25 points, as the Torrington, Wyo., native hit six three pointers in the Sit Kendal Issacs Gymnasium.
The Knights have fought hard against collegiate teams this season, as they nearly defeated Missouri State of the Missouri Valley Conference last week. Newcomer junior Louis Adams had a strong night recording a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Morris Marshall added seven points for UW. Redshirt freshman Andrew Moemeka also added 10 boards for the Cowboys.
The Pokes shot 36 percent (25-of-69) from the field and held the Knights to 32 percent (25-of-79) from the floor. The Cowboys hit 11 three pointers in the contest and held CTG to only two. Each team grabbed 51 rebounds on the night with 41 of UW’s rebounds coming on the defensive side of the glass.
UW will be in action tomorrow at 5 p.m. against the IBA Elite.
