The Cowboys return to the friendly confines of the Arena-Auditorium on Saturday hosting South Dakota State for a 7 p.m. start. The Pokes will face a solid program that reached the NCAA Tournament a season ago. Wyoming is 2-0 on the season after earning a big road win at Montana on Monday.

A Look at the Matchup
The Cowboys head into the weekend with a 2-0 record after earning a last second win at Montana on Monday. The Pokes lead the Mountain west and rank No. 13 nationally in three pointers per game at 11.5. The Cowboys also lead the MW and rank No. 31 in the nation in blocks per game at 6.5. Wyoming is shooting 46.0 percent from the field and 38 percent from behind the arc. UW has been solid from the free throw line shooting 76 percent. The Pokes continue to share the ball averaging 16.5 assists per game.
The Jackrabbits are 1-2 on the season after picking up their first win of the season over Wayne State College on Wednesday by a score of 80-72. South Dakota State opened the season with a pair of road losses at California and UC-Irvine. SDSU is shooting 33 percent from the field and 22 percent from the three point line. The Jackrabbits are shooting 81 percent from the line after hitting 28-of-33 against Wayne State College. SDSU averages 34.7 rebounds per game and turns the ball over 12.3 times per contest.
Each Team’s Leaders
Senior guard Jason McManamen leads the Cowboys in scoring pouring 14.5 points per game, which ranks 13th in the MW. He led the Pokes in scoring at Montana with 20 points marking the seventh time in his career he has scored 20 or more points. Wyoming has five players averaging double-figures this season. Junior guard Alexander Aka Gorski averages 14.0 points per game and is tied for second in the MW in three pointers made per game at 3.5. Sophomore forward Jordan Naughton averages 11.0 points per game and not only leads the MW, but is tied for first in the nation in field goal percentage, as he is a perfect 10-of-10 this season. Junior forward Hayden Dalton leads the Pokes in rebounding at 8.0 per game. He recorded a double-double for the first time in his career at Montana scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 boards. Sophomore guard Justin James added a career-high 19 points at Montana. He is averaging 12.5 per game.
The Jackrabbits are led in scoring by Mike Daum. The son of UW Hall of Famer Michele (Hoppes) Daum and former UW tight end Mitch Daum is averaging 15.7 points per game. He is also adding 7.7 rebounds per contest. Reed Tellinghuisen is averaging 10.3 points per game and 5.3 rebounds. Skyler Flatten averages 9.0 points per night and is 10-of-11 at the free throw line for 91 percent.

Wyoming leads the all-time series 2-1 in a series that dates back to 1962. The Jackrabbits took the last meeting defeating the Pokes in Laramie 77-61 on Nov. 13, 2009.
