Cowgirl Basketball to Face Montana on Sunday

The Wyoming Cowgirls will play the first of its final two non-conference games on Sunday against the Montana Lady Griz. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m. MT in Dahlberg Arena. Live stats and audio can be found on the website.

The Cowgirls are currently 6-3 overall after a 74-71 loss against Idaho last time out. Four Cowgirls finished the night in double-figures led by junior Liv Roberts. She finished with a team-high 19 points and seven rebounds. Senior Hailey Ligocki followed with a career-high 17 points plus five boards and four assists. Off the bench, junior Marleah Campbell added 12 points followed by sophomore Marta Gomez with 11 points and seven rebounds. Wyoming shot 25-of-57 (.439) from the field and 10-of-24 (.417) from three.

Roberts leads the team averaging 13.7 points and 6.4 rebounds plus 1.8 assists. Sophomore Rachelle Tucker follows with eight points per contest while redshirt sophomore Bailee Cotton is adding 4.8 rebounds plus 5.7 points.  UW is shooting 204-of-51 (.407) from the field and 67-of-201 (.333) from beyond the arc. The Cowgirls are also outscoring opponents 64.7-52.8 and out rebounding teams 37.6-32.3.

The Lady Griz are currently 3-6 overall. Redshirt freshman Taylor Goligoski is averaging a team high 12.4 points while adding 3.8 rebounds. Freshman Gabi Harrington is adding a team leading four rebounds and 5.7 points per game. As a squad, Montana is shooting 169-528 (.320) from the field and averaging 53.9 points per game.

This will be the 19th meeting between the two schools with the series being tied up a 9-9. The last time the two teams met was December 12, 2015 with the Cowgirls earning a 68-61 victory. Montana is coached by Shannon Schweyen who is in her first season at the helm.
