The Cowgirls enter the contest with a 15-4 overall record and 7-1 in league play after having its nine-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night by UNLV, 51-46. Junior Liv Roberts led the way with a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds in her 37 minutes of action. Junior Natalie Baker chipped in ten points and five boards followed by freshman Taylor Rusk with eight points and a career-high seven rebounds. The Cowgirls shot a season low 32.1 percent (17-53) from the field, plus 30.0 percent (6-20) from three and 60.0 percent (6-10) from the charity stripe. The 46-point outing was the lowest of the season and the 14 turnovers was second most in a league game.
Roberts, who is the reigning Mountain West Player of the Week, leads the team averaging 15.8 points and 8.1 rebounds plus 2.4 assists. She ranks fourth in the MW in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage, sixth in rebounding. In league games, she is first in three-point field goal percentage, second in scoring and fourth in rebounding. Baker follows with 9.6 points per game and 5.5 rebounds, while sophomore Marta Gomez is chipping in 9.4 points and 3.4 rebounds.
UW is shooting 454-1040 (.437) from the field and 150-384 (.391) from beyond the arc. The Cowgirls are also outscoring opponents 68.0-53.9 and out rebounding teams 36.7-33.2. Wyoming ranks first in field goal percentage as well as three point field goal percentage, free throw percentage and assists.
Boise State enters the game with a 14-5 overall record and 4-4 in conference play. Last time out, Boise State came up short 69-62 against Nevada. The Broncos are led by senior Brooke Pahukoa who is averaging a team-leading 14.1 points while adding 4.6 rebounds. Junior Shalen Shaw leads the team with 7.1 boards while adding 10.7 points. As a squad, Boise State is shooting 39.8 percent (497-1250) from the field, averaging 71.8 points and 40.0 rebounds per game.
This will be the 19th meeting between the two schools with Wyoming holding a slight 9-8 series lead. The last time the two teams met was February 13, 2016 with the Cowgirls earning an 82-58 win in Laramie. The Broncos are led by Gordy Presnell who is in his 12th season with the program.
