Lincoln, Neb. (Sept. 26, 2016) -- Redshirt sophomore Sarah Hankins and junior Gabrielle Gibson fired rounds of 72 (E) and 74 (+2), respectively, to lead the University of Wyoming women’s golf team on Monday as it combined for its lowest round of the fall season. The Cowgirls are in sixth place after recording the fourth-best team score of the 11 teams at the Nebraska Chip-N Club in Lincoln, Neb.
“We learned a lot about the course yesterday and that really helped with our confidence,” UW head coach Josey Stender said. “I was proud of the girls for coming out positive and focused today. We were in good position on the course all day and capitalized on our opportunities. If we stay focused on our game tomorrow, we will be in good shape to finish strong.”
The Cowgirls second-round team score of 296 (+8) was its best round since the MSU Bobcat Spring Invite last season, where UW recorded a 294 (+6). Wyoming has a two-round total of 614 (+38) and are 21 shots back of Kansas State, who holds the top spot with a 593 (+17).
