University of Wyoming Has 38 Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-MWC Honors for 2008 Fall Sports

The Mountain West Conference announced this week its Academic All-Conference teams for the five fall sports sponsored by the MWC. The University of Wyoming had 38 student-athletes honored.

The Cowboy football team had 15 individuals achieve Academic All-MWC, followed by Cowgirl soccer with 10, men's cross country had five individuals earn recognition and women's cross country and Cowgirl volleyball each had four student-athletes named to the team.

Of Wyoming's 38 student-athletes named to the team five were freshmen, 11 were sophomores, six were juniors, 15 were seniors and one was in graduate school.

The average cumulative grade-point-average for Wyoming's 38 honorees was 3.43.

The criteria for selection to the team are: a student-athlete must have completed at least one full semester at their university, must achieve a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher and must be a starter or significant contributor to their team.

Academic All-MWC teams for winter and spring sports will be announced later in 2009 after completion of those sports' seasons.
