LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The University of Wyoming Athletics Department and the Mountain West Conference are teaming up to help the Red Cross Organization by sponsoring a blood drive on Monday, February 13th.
From 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. donations will be accepted in the UW Union Ballroom West on campus.
A raffle drawing will take place throughout the day for those who donate. Prizes will include gifts from all Cowboy and Cowgirl teams. People can sign up for times to donate by contacting Sarah McCullough (766-4037, firstname.lastname@example.org) or by signing up with UW SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) reps.
The Rebuilding Lives Blood Drive competition involves each Mountain West Conference institution designating one day during January or February to conduct a campus-wide blood drive. The MWC will determine a winner and an MWC Representative/Conference SAAC representative will present an award to the Athletic Director of the winning school during 2006 MWC Men's and Women's Basketball Championship at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo., March 7-11. The winner will be the institution that has collected the most pints of blood (i.e., productive units) on its specified day with the assistance of local blood service centers. Each institution has promoted the event on campus and in their local community, and encourages fans, student groups, faculty, staff and alumni to participate and support their school.
