The Mountain West Conference has announced its 2004 Fall All-Academic teams, and 38 University of Wyoming student-athletes have earned All-Academic honors.
In the five fall sports that the University of Wyoming competes in 20 Cowgirls and 18 Cowboys were named to the team. The Wyoming recipients by sport included: four women's cross country runners, four men's cross country runners, 14 football players, eight soccer student-athletes and eight volleyball players.
A total of 318 student-athletes from the eight MWC member institutions were named 2004 Fall semester Academic All-Mountain West. To be eligible for selection student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
BYU led the conference with 71 student-athletes named to the team, followed by Utah (46), New Mexico (45), Wyoming (38), UNLV (34), Colorado State (32), Air Force (31) and San Diego State (21).
