LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The University of Wyoming Athletics Department is asking for help in finding women who participated in sports at UW from 1960-1975 prior to the passage of Title IX in 1972.
Many of these women were competing in sports but weren't recognized as student-athletes under the system in place at the time. The Athletics Department is seeking information such as where did they play, what sports and who did they play. We would like to find women who participated in any sport (basketball, volleyball, field hockey, gymnastics, etc.) at UW between the years of 1960 and 1975. We have a significant list compiled but are still looking for these individuals or family members.
These women played an important role in paving the way for female student-athletes today, and we believe they deserve to be recognized for their abilities and achievements. We would like to present them with a varsity letter at a reception in June; but in order to do this we must find these women.
If you or anyone you know that played a sport, please contact Julie Manning (email@example.com) or Brandy Brummond (firstname.lastname@example.org) at the UW Athletic Department or fill out the questionnaire on the GoWyo.com website and return by May 31.
