LARAMIE, Wyo. -
University of Wyoming cheer and dance squads have been selected for the 2006-07 school year and the group is using the summer months to prepare for a busy school year.
Tryouts were held and teams chosen this past April. Members have remained active since that time with a variety of fundraising efforts and by hosting camps and clinics within the community. The UW spirit squads will be attending summer camps in August and will begin team practice later that month.
"I was pleased that our tryout numbers doubled this year," said UW head coach Ty'Lene Jackson. "We had a good level of competition and the end result is talented squads that include members from many surrounding states.
"Both cheer and dance will be attending summer camps this year, which I think will really benefit us. We've been busy with fundraising and we're looking forward to the start of official practice in August."
