Coinciding with annual MWC Football Media Day activities in Las Vegas July 20-22, The Mtn. will air the first of a series of special presentations highlighting the 10th Anniversary of the Mountain West Conference.
The Mountain West 10th Anniversary Teams for football, volleyball, women's soccer and cross country will be announced on The Mtn. Tuesday, July 22. The 10th Anniversary football team announcement first airs at 12:00pm MT with an encore presentation at 8:00pm MT. The announcement of the volleyball, soccer, and men's and women's cross country 10th Anniversary teams will follow at 8:30pm MT. Interviews with coaches and several of the respective honorees will be part of each 30-minute show.
Fan voting for these Mountain West Conference 10th Anniversary teams began Friday, July 4 and concludes Friday, July 18 on the Mountain West website (http://themwc.cstv.com). The Mountain West is naming anniversary teams for all 19 sponsored sports during the 2008-09 school year to commemorate its 10th Anniversary season. The teams will be selected by a combination of balloting of fans, media and institutional personnel.
Candidates for the MWC 10th Anniversary teams must have been a first team all-conference selection at least once in their MWC career.
The 10th Anniversary football team shall consist of 25 players. There shall be 11 offensive players by position, 11 defensive players by position, one place kicker, one punter and one special teams player on the first team and second team.
The 10th Anniversary volleyball team shall consist of 14 players regardless of position, as well as a designated setter and libero, for a total of 16 honorees. The women's soccer team shall consist of 11 players regardless of position, while the men's and women's cross country 10th Anniversary teams shall consist of seven slots each.
