LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Neinas Sports Services of Boulder, Colo., a search firm that specializes in helping universities recruit football coaches and athletics directors, has been selected to help the University of Wyoming conduct a search for a replacement for Gary Barta, who left UW earlier this month to become athletics director at the University of Iowa.
According to materials prepared by Neinas, the firm has consulted on searches at major public universities including the University of Florida, the University of Georgia, the University of Michigan, and the University of Utah.
Services for UW will involve identifying quality candidates for consideration by an advisory committee to be named by UW President Tom Buchanan. As part of the process, UW also will place advertisements in appropriate athletics- and academics-oriented publications.
The contract between the university and Neinas provides for a lump-sum payment of $35,000 upon completion of services and submission of a properly-approved invoice. Additionally, Neinas will be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses incurred by Neinas and candidates for the athletics director position.
Buchanan says he hopes to name a new athletics director during the fall. Operations within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics currently are the responsibility of Deputy Athletics Director Barbara Burke.
