Cowboy Joe Club Announces New Hirings and Promotions

Aug. 7, 2007

The Cowboy Joe Club, the fund-raising organization for University of Wyoming Athletics, announced on Tuesday the hiring of two new staff members and the promotion of a third. H. Keener Fry, a former Senior Associate Athletics Director at Wyoming, is returning to serve as Assistant Athletic Director for Annual Giving for the Cowboy Joe Club. Suzy Taylor has been promoted to Office Associate Senior, and Aengle Smith has been hired as an Office Assistant Senior.

Fry served as Senior Associate Athletics Director at Wyoming from November 1997 to July 2001. He also was previously Director of Athletics at East Tennessee State University from June 1995 to November 1997. For the past six years, Fry has served as headmaster of Covenant School in Huntington, W.Va. Fry will oversee the Cowboy Joe Club's fund-raising efforts in Northeastern and Central Wyoming. He will also coordinate CJC's Steer-A-Year program and Gift-in-Kind programs throughout the state.

"Keener Fry is the perfect fit for the Cowboy Joe Club and its members," said Josh Rebholz, UW Associate Athletics Director and Executive Director of the Cowboy Joe Club. "He knows Wyoming from his time here before, and I think UW fans will be very pleased to have him as a contact.

"With Keener's long history of being a strong manager in athletics, his leadership for Cowboy Joe will be immeasurable. We are thrilled to have him join our team."

"After spending the last six years serving in a position important to my family and tending to aging-parents, I am thrilled to return to the University of Wyoming Department of Athletics," said Fry. "I sincerely appreciate Tom Burman and Josh Rebholz providing me the opportunity to serve in the Cowboy Joe Club and participate in the great work of supporting our Cowboy and Cowgirl student-athletes."

Suzy Taylor and her husband Larry have been Cowboy Joe Club members for 20 years, Taylor joined the CJC staff in March of 2007. In her new role, Taylor will be taking on additional responsibilities in the areas of membership services and special events.

Aengle Smith joined CJC in early August 2007. She came to UW after working at Howard Johnson's in Laramie. Smith will also assist Cowboy Joe Club members with membership services and special events.

"We are very excited to promote Suzy Taylor and to have Aengle Smith join our staff," said Rebholz. "Both Suzy and Aengle will do a great job of serving the needs of our donors, and I know they will continue the long history of great customer service in Cowboy Joe.

"I believe we have brought together a team of very talented people. While it is always hard to lose great folks like we have in the past few months, I am excited for the future of the Cowboy Joe Club and the new heights we will reach."
