LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The University of Wyoming will be hosting the Third Annual Mountain West Conference Student Leadership Summit, Thursday-Friday, August 12-13, on the UW Campus.
Student Government and Student-Athlete Leaders, and their advisors, from six of the nine Mountain West Conference schools are participating in the summit.
There will be several guest speakers including UW President Tom Buchanan who will hold a Welcome on Thursday morning at the Hilton Garden Inn. Former Wyoming student-athlete Angela DeWolf will hold a session on undergraduate experiences, while Mark Jenkins of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) will hold a leadership and outdoor session in Prexy's Pasture. The two days will be closed with a dinner and speaker, Dave Cozzens, the University of Wyoming Dean of Students.
The MWCSLS began two years ago at TCU and each year since it has traveled to member schools. It was created based on the interest to empower student governments, while the goal of the experience to extend and strengthen the student leadership from each of the universities.
Utilizing the outdoor skills of the National Outdoor Leadership School program, as well as a wide variety of speakers, this year's summit will focus on leadership the Wyoming way- geocaching, teambuilding, and a great Western experience. It is an interactive, exciting conference where student government and student-athlete leaders come together to form lasting bonds, exchange ideas, and celebrate the diversity and abilities of all of our schools.
