LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Earlier this month the University of Wyoming Spirit Squads traveled to Las Vegas to attend the National Cheer Association (NCA) and National Dance Alliance (NDA) summer camp and competition. Wyoming took all three squads to Las Vegas...the Brown Squad (Co-Ed), the Gold Squad (All-Girl), and Wildfire (Dance), along with UW mascot Pistol Pete.
While there were multiple teams that attended the camp held on the UNLV Campus, the University of Wyoming was the only team representing the Mountain West Conference. After two and one half days of intense practice and training, all three UW teams entered their respective competitions. All groups did very well, returning to Wyoming with trophies and performance ribbons. The Gold Squad was awarded two trophies..."Most Collegiate Team," and second place in the "Rally Routine." Wildfire brought home the first place trophy for "Most School Spirit." The Brown Squad received the first place trophy in the "Rally Routine." Pistol Pete garnered the "Most Collegiate" trophy along with all superior performance ribbons.
After a short break, the UW Spirit Squads will resume practice on Monday, August 20th in Laramie to prepare for the upcoming 2007-2008 season. Congratulations to these young men and women on their outstanding performances and teamwork.
