"Over 4,100 UW fans have continued the tradition of supporting our student-athletes through their financial contributions to the Cowboy Joe Club," said Tim Collins, Assistant Athletics Director for Development. "Our staff and volunteers' success has started in our home state with Wyoming donations up over $140,000 compared to the previous year."
The Cowboy Joe Club is looking to build on this year's successful fundraising efforts when it launches Campaign 7220 on Monday, Aug. 25. The CJC will be conducting a fund drive "blitz" for 7220 minutes leading up to the kick-off of UW's 2014 football season. Cowboy Joe Club staff and volunteers will be soliciting new members and renewals during this fund drive. Both new members and volunteers will be eligible for prizes including sideline passes and UW Athletics merchandise.
This drive comes at an important time for UW Athletics as cash receipts as of July 1 and through December 31 will be matched by the State of Wyoming. For every $2.00 of Cowboy Joe Club receipts the State of Wyoming will contribute $1.00 to UW Athletics.
"We are very fortunate that Governor Mead and the Wyoming State Legislature have made this commitment to provide matching funds in support of our student-athletes," said Randy Welniak, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development. "This will have a very positive impact on our Athletic program.
