University of Wyoming Athletic Director Tom Burman announced a contract extension with Learfield Sports, enabling "University of Wyoming Sports Properties" (UWSP) to retain UW Athletics' multi-media rights through 2017. The initial agreement was set to expire at the end of the 2010-2011 academic year.
Learfield Sports is the exclusive athletic marketing partner for Wyoming, administering certain radio and television rights, athletic venue signage, gameday promotions and sponsorships, as well as print advertising and certain marketing opportunities on the official University of Wyoming Athletics website wyomingathletics.com through its locally based UWSP team. Learfield Sports has represented the University of Wyoming for two years. In what was a first-of-its-kind move for Wyoming Athletics, the partnership has continued to help increase the athletic budget on an annual basis.
"The marketing partnership we've developed with Learfield Sports has been a very positive relationship for us financially and from an overall exposure and branding standpoint. Overall corporate sponsorship and Learfield donations to the University have increased revenue over 65%. Both guaranteed revenue along with contributions to the University have greatly exceeded levels prior to our partnership," said Burman. "Learfield Sports is a leader in marketing college athletic departments across the nation, and we are excited to be able to continue our association with them through University of Wyoming Sports Properties."

In addition to Wyoming, Learfield Sports manages the multimedia rights for nearly 40 collegiate institutions and associations, including other Mountain West Conference members San Diego State University and the University of New Mexico. The company also secures marketing partnerships for the Black Coaches & Administrators (BCA) and provides exclusive sports programming to more than 1,000 radio stations throughout the country. Additionally, Team Services, LLC, a Learfield Sports company, specializes in venue naming rights, marketing research and sales consultation.
Dallas-based Learfield Sports is an operating unit of Jefferson City, Mo.-based Learfield Communications, Inc., which made its initial foray into the world of sports marketing in 1975 as a radio rights holder for the University of Missouri, a client still today.
