LARAMIE, Wyo. -
A record $180,000 was raised to support University of Wyoming student-athlete scholarships at the 19th Annual Cowboy Joe Club Auction on Oct. 7 at the Cheyenne Holiday Inn.
The auction was boosted by a record attendance of over 480 people. This year's attendance mark topped the 450 people that attended in 2004. This year's auction sold out in ten days. The revenue generated by the auction is up $20,000 from last year's record-breaking total.
Over 250 silent auction and 50 live auction items were auctioned off by Shawn and Lex Madden of Torrington along with the "Voice of the Wyoming Cowboys" Dave Walsh. Some of the items included a Wyoming golf cart, vacation and golf packages, Wyoming sports memorabilia, various art and catered dinner packages with Wyoming coaches.
"It was a great evening for the Cowboy Joe Club and we are appreciative of all the hard work put in by our volunteers," said John Stark, Executive Director of the Cowboy Joe Club. "We are also fortunate to have so many loyal individuals and businesses donate to our auction. The Cowboy and Cowgirl fans that attended the auction made the night with their support. We certainly look forward to continuing the success of the annual auction in 2006."
