Cowboy Joe Club Auction Nears, Tickets Still Available

Oct. 13, 2006

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Cowboy Joe Club Auction is fast-approaching, and with a move into a bigger facility for 2006, tickets are still available. The auction is set to take place on Friday, Oct. 20 at the Taco John's Events Center in Cheyenne.

The annual auction, which is the Club's single-most successful fundraising event of the year, has been a sellout in years past. With this year's auction moving to the Taco John's Events Center, there are still tickets available even with over 600 tickets already sold.

Tickets are available by calling the Cowboy Joe Club at 307.766.6242. Prices are $65 per person, $125 per couple or $500 per table of eight. Admission includes dinner, complimentary cocktails all evening and a bidder packet.

A Wyoming golf cart will be up for auction this year, among other items.

Over 350 items will be up for bid at the auction. Some of the top auction items include a Wyoming golf cart, vacation packages, hunting & fishing packages, pro and Wyoming sports memorabilia, artwork, Wyoming apparel, a custom Cowboy ATV, a hot tub and unique, one-of-a-kind Wyoming athletics experiences.

The evening will include a silent auction, dinner and live auction. This year's auction theme is "Retro...Celebrating 20 Years" as this is the 20th Annual Cowboy Joe Club Auction. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their best "retro" attire from the decades of the 50's, 60's, 70's or 80's. Dan Brain of Laramie will provide entertainment during the silent auction while Shawn and Lex Madden will serve as auctioneers during the live auction. Dave Walsh, the "Voice of the Cowboys," will serve as emcee.

The Cowboy Joe Club is hoping to raise over $200,000 at this year's auction. Last year's auction raised a record total of over $180,000. All proceeds from the auction support student-athlete scholarships at UW. Nearly 400 Cowboy and Cowgirl student-athletes benefit from the support of the auction.

Keep in mind that the day following the auction the Cowboy football team hosts Colorado State at Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at the Pokes try and bring the Bronze Boot back to Laramie.
