LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The Cowboy Joe Club, the University of Wyoming's main fundraising arm, announced Wednesday that the 22nd Annual Cowboy Joe Club Auction, presented by IGC Management, netted $250,000 to be used towards student-athlete scholarships and resources. That $250,000 total ranks second in the 22 years that the auction has been held.
More than 630 Wyoming fans from across the region attended this year's auction at the Little America in Cheyenne. Popular items included an Alaskan Cruise, Boston Red Sox Vacation, Polaris ATV, Scottsdale, Ariz. Golf Vacation and Brunton Outdoor Equipment.
This year's auction, chaired by 2007 Cowboy Joe Club White Hat Award recipient Harry Kembel, was sponsored by IGC Management of Cheyenne and Laramie GM Auto Center of Laramie.
The next major special event for the Cowboy Joe Club will be the Annual Online Auction, to be held the entire month of February 2009 through the official University of Wyoming Athletics website: www.wyomingathletics.com.
The 23rd Annual Cowboy Joe Club auction is tentatively scheduled for October of 2009, in Cheyenne. People wanting to donate an item to either the online auction in February or the live auction in October 2009 may contact the Cowboy Joe Club at 307-766-6242.
Due to the generosity of Cowboy Joe Club donors, the organization has exceeded the $2 million mark in total pledged cash contributions for the first time in its 38-year history.
