2014 Toys For Tots Campaign Collects Over $4,000 and 41 Toys at UW Athletic Events

Nov. 26, 2014 LARAMIE, Wyo. -

Albany County Toys for Tots

On Saturday, Nov. 22, the University of Wyoming Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Laramie Detachment #777 of the Marine Corps League teamed up to collect Toys For Tots at the Wyoming vs. Colorado men's basketball game and the Wyoming vs. Boise State football game. Thanks to the generosity of people throughout the community, this year's collection efforts were a huge success.

A total of $4,303 and 41 unwrapped toys were donated. Over 100 UW student-athletes were involved in collecting the toys and cash donations from Wyoming fans. The cash donations will be used to purchase toys for youth in Albany County.

The toys will be wrapped by Cowboy and Cowgirl student-athletes and then those toys will be presented to Albany County youth at the annual SAAC Carnival on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at the UniWyo Sports Complex in the UW Athletics Department.

Toys For Tots is a program that has been coordinated for years by the United States Marine Corps Reserve. All toys donated and all monetary donations will be used to purchase additional toys and wrap those toys for children in Albany County.

Toys donated need to be new and unwrapped. Financial donations may be made by cash or check. Checks may be made out to: Marine Toys For Tots Foundation.
