University of Wyoming AthleticsDirector Lee Moon announced on Wednesday, May 5 that the Curtis and MarianRochelle Athletics Center campaign has raised close to $7 million in gifts and pledges.
Recent pledges and donations have been made by: Russell Allbaugh ofLaramie; John and Esther Clay of Cheyenne; Jack and Pat Guthrie of Laramie;Kim and Laural Krueger of Green Valley, Ariz.; Brooks and Vickie Mitchell ofLaramie; Carrol Orrison of Casper; Dr. Terry and Beverly Roark of Laramie;Dick and Maggie Scarlett of Jackson; the Union Pacific Railroad; and Jim andMarian Woodson of Cheyenne.
The University is on schedule to complete the fund-raising phase ofthe project by the 1999 football season.
"The enthusiasm of Wyoming people is infectious," said Moon. "We'vehad so many great fans step forward to support this very important project.We want to thank them for their generosity and involvement."
Curt and Marian Rochelle made a historic $4.2 million gift to theUniversity of Wyoming on Feb. 20, 1999. That gift was the largest singlegift in UW history, and served as the catalyst to bring the much-neededstudent-athlete center closer to reality. Curt Rochelle was born in Lusk,Wyo., and is a former UW graduate and University Trustee. Marian Rochelleis a native of Denver. The Rochelles divide their time between their homesin Wyoming and Arizona.
The projected cost to build, furnish and maintain the new facilityis $9.5 million.
The University of Wyoming Foundation, the UW Athletics Departmentand the Cowboy Joe Club are all working diligently to complete thefund-raising and begin the building process.
