Pospahala Joins UW As Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach

University of Wyoming head strengthand conditioning coach Scott Bennett announced on Thursday the hiring ofShad Pospahala as assistant strength and conditioning coach at theUniversity of Wyoming. Pospahala's hiring is subject to University ofWyoming Board of Trustee approval.

Pospahala comes to Wyoming from the University of Delaware where heserved as an assistant in the strength training and conditioning area forthe 1998-99 academic year. Prior to his one year at Delaware, Pospahalaworked at the University of Richmond in a similar position for the 1997-98season. He also was an adjunct professor at Richmond, teaching intermediateand advanced weight training classes.

"Shad (Pospahala) will be an excellent addition to our staff," saidScott Bennett, UW head strength and conditioning coach. "He has worked atthe collegiate level for the past two years and comes highly recommended.We're excited about both the experience he will bring to the job, as well asthe enthusiasm he has to help our athletes reach their potential."

As an undergraduate at Salisbury State University in Salisbury, Md.,Pospahala competed on the men's swimming team. He completed his bachelor ofscience degree in biology, with a minor in chemistry, in 1991 at SalisburyState. He later earned his master's degree in exercise physiology from theUniversity of Delaware in 1998. Pospahala is a member of the NationalStrength and Conditioning Association and the USA Weightlifting Federation.

He will work with the sports of men's basketball, women'sbasketball, as well as a number of olympic sports at Wyoming. Pospahala issingle. He replaces Trent Greener, who recently accepted the head strengthand conditioning position at Oregon State University.
