Cowboy Joe Club to Hold 17th Annual Auction, Presented by Qwest

Oct. 10, 2003

The 17th Annual Cowboy Joe Club Auction, presented by Qwest, will be held on Friday, October 17th at the Cheyenne Holiday Inn.

There will be over 125 silent auction items and over 40 live auction items up for bid including vacation packages, skiing, golf, hunting and fishing packages, Wyoming memorabilia, courtside seats for basketball, various art, pro sports memorabilia and much, much more. All proceeds from the auction will benefit student-athlete scholarships through the Cowboy Joe Club, the fundraising entity for University of Wyoming Athletics.

"This auction has become our single largest fund raising event each year," said John Stark, Associate Athletic Director for Development. "We were able to raise over $70,000 last year and have set a goal of $100,000 this year. This is an event that you don't want to miss. It is more than just an auction, there is a great dinner served and our auctioneer and emcee team up to make it an outstanding event."

Veteran Wyoming radio personality Dave Walsh will serve as the emcee of the program while Lex Madden of Torrington will serve as the auctioneer. Madden is a former World Champion auctioneer and Walsh has numerous "Wyoming Sportscaster of the Year" awards to his credit.

Also making appearances at the auction will be UW Head Coaches Joe Glenn, Steve McClain and Joe Legerski along with UW Athletics Director Gary Barta, New York Mets Manager Art Howe and former Denver Broncos kicker Rich Karlis.

The auction will have a theme this year, "A Luau, Wyoming Style," so Hawaiian attire is suggested. Laramie musician, Dan Brain, will be playing your favorite Jimmy Buffett tunes during the silent auction.

The auction will get underway at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and the silent auction while dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by the live auction. Ticket prices will be $45 per person or $80 per couple, while a table of eight (8) will cost $320. To reserve tickets or for more information, please contact the Cowboy Joe Club at (307) 766-6242.
