A new record, $140,000 was raised to support University of Wyoming Student-Athlete Scholarships at the 17th Annual Cowboy Joe Club Auction presented by Qwest. The auction was held on Friday, October 17th at the Cheyenne Holiday Inn.
The total revenue generated for student-athlete scholarships, doubled last year's totals. This year's attendance set a new record by improving from last year's 220 people to 380.
Over 175 silent auction items and 55 live auction items were auctioned off by Shawn Madden of Torrington, along with the Voice of the Cowboys, Dave Walsh. Some of the items included: vacation packages; skiing, golf, hunting and fishing packages; Wyoming memorabilia; courtside seats for basketball; plus various art and pro sports memorabilia.
John Stark, Executive Director of the Cowboy Joe Club, said "I can't say enough about how much we appreciate the donors to the auction, our title sponsor Qwest, along with all of the people that attended the auction and made it an evening to remember. It was an overwhelming success and the Cowboy Joe Club is already looking forward to next year's auction."
