The Cowboys welcome the UNI Panthers to the Arena-Auditorium for a Saturday matinee. It is the second-straight season and sixth time the Pokes have played in the Mountain West/Missouri Valley Challenge. The two teams last met in the NCAA Tournament during the 2015 season.

A Look at the Matchup
The Cowboys head into Saturday’s game with 4-2 overall record after Wednesday night’s win over Denver. The Pokes lead the Mountain West and rank No. 69 nationally in steals forced at 15.8 per game. The Cowboys rank third in the conference and No. 63 in the nation in field goal percentage defense, as the opposition is shooting 39 percent from the field. Offensively, the Pokes are shooting 42 percent from the field and 30 percent from behind the arc. The Cowboys have found success at the free throw line shooting 76 percent ranking second in the MW and No. 42 in the nation.
The Panthers are 3-3 on the season and have suffered three-straight losses. UNI fell to George Mason, 54-50 on Wednesday evening in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The Panthers are shooting 40 percent from the field on the season and 37 percent from behind the arc.
The Panthers have played strong defense this season holding opponents to 58.7 points per game. That mark ranks third in the Missouri Valley and third in the nation.
Each Team’s Leaders
Sophomore guard Justin James leads the Cowboys in scoring at 17.7 points per game, which ranks fourth in the MW. He has scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games and scored in double figures in five-straight. Senior guard Jason McManamen is second on the team in scoring at 14.5 points per game. He ranks No. 44 in the nation in free throws made this season with 38. Juniors Alan Herndon is averaging 10.2 points per game and 6.7 rebounds. Fellow junior Hayden Dalton is averaging 8.2 per game to go along with a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game.
Guard Jeremy Morgan leads the Panthers in scoring this season at 14.7 per game. He is shooting 44 percent (18-of-41) from the three-point line and 86 percent (18-of-21) from the free throw line. He also grabs a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game. Guard Klint Carlson also averages in double-figures at 11.2 points per game. He is shooting 48 percent (25-of-52) from the field. He also leads the team dishing out 18 assists on the season. Forward Bennett Koch is averaging 9.8 points per game and is shooting a team-best 62 percent from the field.
About the Series
Wyoming leads the all-time series 3-2 in a series that began in 1990. Northern Iowa has won two-straight contest including a 2009 meeting in the Mountain West/Missouri Valley Challenge in a game that took place in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
