LARAMIE, Wyo. - Cowboy senior Aaron Derner and the University of Wyoming women’s cross country team earned All-Academic awards from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) last Friday. The Cowgirls were named a USTFCCCA All-Academic team for a 10th-straight year, while Derner is the second Cowboy to earn All-Academic Individual in the last three years.
The Cowgirls posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.21 to finish as one of the six Mountain West women’s programs to earn the accolade. To qualify a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater for the 2015 roster and competed at an NCAA Regional Meet.
Derner sports a 3.75 GPA in international studies and history and was one of just 14 student-athletes in the Mountain West to claim the individual award, including just four males. Honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or greater and earned All-America or All-Region accolades during the season.
