"It was a great meet for the women, with excellent performances byWendy O'Connell in winning the one-meter and three-meter and MabryFiddler taking three events," said head swimming and diving coach TomJohnson. "The kids swam extremely well after coming off ten days ofextreme hard training. We're happy with their performances and we justneed to keep this ball rolling. Also, I'm extremely pleased with beatinga Big 12 team, I can't remember the last time that has happened, so it'sa great win for our program. Missouri is a very talented and deep team, but our kids stepped up and swam well."

Oscar Delgado and Damion Storz had big days for the men's team. Delgadoswept both the one-meter and three-meter events with scores of 267.08and 284.4 respectively. Storz pulled out first place victories in the500 Freestyle (4:40.89) and 1650 Freestyle (16:18.81).

Other strong performances by the Cowboys included second placefinishes by Jake Weidert in the 200 Butterfly (1:53.54) and Jason Garmonin the 50 Freestyle (21.65)

"On the men side, it was an extremely close meet throughout, especiallyafter we false started in the very first relay of the meet. The menregained the lead after Oscar Delgado won both of his events, but thedisqualification ate up much of that lead. Damion Storz also had a nicemeet winning two events and was just edged out in another. But, the menreally stepped it up after the early disqualification and just keptafter it. This was a good test for us heading into conference next weekagainst a good Big 12 opponent."

Both squad will open up the conference season this week. They will havea dual meet with the University of Utah on Friday night, and then closeout the weekend against Brigham Young on Saturday afternoon.
