The Wyoming diving squad had a productive day at the Air Force Diving Invite on Friday at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. Sophomore Cowboy Derek Campbell finished in first place on the 3-meter springboard with an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 347.00. Today's competition events included the men's 3-meter springboard, women's platform dive and women's 1-meter springboard.

"I am pretty happy with how my kids dove today," Wyoming diving coach Pat Bukowski said.

The Wyoming divers best finishes came on the men's 3-meter springboard. Cowboys Campbell, Dalton Haas and Valentin Schwarz finished first, second and third, respectively. Campbell's final score of 347.00 was 17 points higher than the required NCAA Zone qualifying score of 330.00. Freshman Haas finished second with a score of 309.05 and senior Schwarz rounded out the top three with a mark of 303.60.

"Derek had an awesome day today," Bukowski said. "All three guys had a solid round in the prelims and just crushed it in the finals."

In the women's platform dive competition, Cowgirls Carolyn Wallace and Sasha Andrie both finished in the top 10 of the 15-compeitior event. Wallace finished in sixth place with a final tally of 205.50. Andrie finished with a mark of 185.55 which was good enough for 10th place.

The Cowgirl divers also competed on the 1-meter springboard, but did not qualify any divers for the finals.

The Air Force Diving Invite will continue Saturday, Jan. 28 beginning at 10 a.m. MT with the men's 1-meter springboard. Competition will continue with the women's 3-meter at noon and conclude with the men's platform dive at 3 p.m.

"I am hoping we have another good day tomorrow," Bukowski said. "I would love to see another one of my divers pick up a Zone score."
