Sophomore Oscar Delgado won all three diving events at the AFADiving Invite in Colorado Springs, Colo., Feb. 4-5, winning the one-meter (484.55), the three-meter (516.225) andthe five-meter platform (333.60).
Junior Christian Brienza also dove well for the Cowboys, placing third in the one-meter (395.35), second in thethree-meter (469.875) and second in the platform (308.40). "Christian gave a really strong performance in thethree-meter," UW diving coach Jason Baumann said. "He recorded a personal best by about thirty points and wasextremely consistant with his dives."
The Cowgirl divers were led by junior Wendy O'Connell's second-place (286.25) performance on the platform.O'Connell also placed fifth in the one-meter (326.95) and sixth on the three-meter (370.00).
Senior Dominy Alderman paced UW in the three-meter finishing third (403.45). She also placed fifth in the platform(258.50) and sixth in the one-meter (323.25).
Senior Laura Tierney placed seventh in the three-meter (364.56), eight in the one-meter (315.90) and tenth in theplatform (225.05). Junior Sadie West placed fifth in the three-meter (381.05), sixth in the platform (257.95) and 11th inthe one-meter (304.80).
"This was a great dress rehearsal for our conference meet," said UW diving coach Jason Baumann. "On thewomen's side our girls did a nice job against three of the schools that will be a the conference championships. On theguys side it was a good chance at getting a few more dives in before conference as well as getting to work on someplatform dives in a competitive meet."
Teams competing at the AFA Diving Invite were Wyoming and Air Force on the men's side and UW, Air Force andColorado State on the women's side. No teams score were kept.
