Wyoming Divers Compete At NCAA Zone "E" Championships

Laramie, Wyo. -- Several University of Wyomingdivers competed at the 2004 NCAA Zone "E" Diving Championships,Wednesday in Oklahoma City, Okla. Three Cowboys and three Cowgirlscompeted in the meet that featured divers from 15 other schools in theregion.

In men's three meter action, freshman Kevin Bretting was the topWyoming finisher, placing 23rd on the three meter board with a scoreof 241.40. Junior Adam Miller finished 25th with 233.50 points, whilefreshman John Lynch placed 26th in the event with a score of 194.75.

In women's action, freshman Saara Haapanen was top placer for theCowgirls. She placed 21st on the one meter board with a score of196.30. Senior Shea Boyle tallied a score of 191.45 for 22nd place,and freshman Emily Keefer finished 24th with her score of 360.30.

"Overall, I was very pleased with the way we dove," said UWdiving coach Russ Dekker. "I thought that we hung tough and didsome really good things."

Competition continues on Friday, March 13th at the NCAA Zone "E"Championships in Oklahoma City. The men will compete on the one meterboard, while the women will take to the three meter board.
