Three Wyoming divers continued the NCAA Zone `E' Diving Championships on the springboards on Friday with better success than Thursday, but all three are still looking to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
"I thought we dove much better today than we did yesterday," Wyoming diving coach Pat Bukowski said. "For the most part all of our dives were very crisp which I was very happy with."
Today's diving rounds included the men's 3-meter springboard and the women's 1-meter springboard.
On the men's side both Kyle Bogner and Mark Murdock placed high enough in the preliminary rounds to make the finals. Bogner placed eighth in the prelims with a score of 343.50 and Murdock placed 11th with a score of 335.65. In the finals, Bogner went on to place ninth with a total score of 710.25, which was just two spots behind an NCAA qualifying finish. Murdock placed right behind Bogner in 10th with a total score of 682.50.
On the women's 1-meter Allie Smith also dove well enough in the preliminaries to reach the finals. Smith placed 11th in the prelims with a score of 258.50. In the finals she placed 12th with a total score of 510.35.
"Allie really impressed me today she has been battling through a lot of pain but still gutted out a her 12th-place finish," Bukowski added.
The NCAA Zone `E' Championships will conclude Saturday with the men's and women's platform dive.
