The University of Wyoming Diving team finished competition today at theZone "E" Championships inFederal Way, Washington. All four UW athletes that competed did not qualify fornationals, however UW diving coach Jason Baumann feels that they madesome strides.
The three Cowgirl athletes competing were DominyAlderman, Wendy O'Connell and Sadie West. In the three-meter springboard, junior Wendy O'Connell led the Cowgirls by finishing in 30thplace with a score of 200.45. Dominy Alderman finished in 37th place with 168.55 pointsand Sadie West finished in 40th place with 139.55. In platform, the twomore experienced Cowgirls finished much higher than the previous eventplacing 17th, 19th. O'Connell finished with 260.40 points and Alderman finishedwith 222.95.
On the men's side of the competition, Wyoming's Oscar Delgado competedin two events, the one-meter springboard and the platform. He finishedin 7th place in the one-meter springboard with 432.24 points and on platform heended up in ninth place with 351.45.
"Overall we did not get anyone qualified for the NCAA meet, which is alittle disappointing, but the women's team did a much better job and Ithink we made some strides forward," says coach Baumann.
