SEATTLE, Wash. -
University of Wyoming Cowboy swimmer Brandon Fischer competed at the second day of the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, on Friday at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Seattle, Wash. He swam in the 100-yard breaststroke preliminaries and placed 26th with a time of 54.66.
"I thought he swam a lot better today than he did yesterday," Wyoming head coach Tom Johnson said. "He really handled the pressure better and swam his fastest time of the season."
In Friday's preliminaries, Fischer recorded a top-30 finish in the 100 breaststroke after finishing outside the top 50 in Thursday's 200 individual medley. He swam his fastest 100 breast time of the season at 54.66 finishing in 26th place. He will conclude the NCAA Championships on Saturday, with the 200 breaststroke. The 200 breast is the event he earned his way to the championships in by swimming the 16th-fastest time in the country of 1:55.75.
"He has a really good chance to score tomorrow," Johnson said. "We just need to put him in a position to finish in the top 16 and get him back (to finals) tomorrow night."
Saturday will be the final day of racing and preliminaries will begin at noon MT with the finals to follow at 8 p.m.
