Freshman diver Oscar Delgado competed at the NCAA National Diving Championships this past weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Delgado competed in three events at the Championships. He dove in the 1-meter, 3-meter and the platform events. He placed in the top 30 in each of the events.
In the 1-meter springboard, Delgado placed 27th out of 34 divers with a score of 414.90. In the 3-meter, Delgado finished 29th out of 35 with 441.10 points, and also finishing 20th out of 24 competitors in the platform event with a score of 394.10. Only the top 8 divers in each event qualified for the finals held Saturday.
Delgado was the first diver from the University of Wyoming to compete at the national championships in over ten years. This was the first NCAA national meet for Delgado and second year Diving Coach Carlos Jimenez.
The NCAA Championships marks the completion of the 1998-99 season for the Cowboy swimming and diving team.
