Wyoming Swimming and Diving Competes in Annual Brown vs Gold Meet

The University ofWyoming swimming and diving teams competed in the Brown vs.Gold intrasquad meet on Friday. The Brown team defeated theGold team 240 to 234.

Junior Scott Usher was the only Cowboy multi event winneron the day as he won the 200 meter IM, 500 meter freestyle,and 200 meter breaststroke for the Gold team. Usher clockedin at 1:57.59 in the 200 IM, 4:57.90 in the 500 freestyle,and 2:07.71 in the 200 breaststroke.

Brown team men's captain Grant Kritizinger won the 200meter freestyle with a time of 1:59.73, two full secondsahead of his competitors. As team captain, Kritizingercalled all the shots for the Brown team, and showed hisleadership abilities.

"On the guy's side we had a great meet, it's great tosee everybody swimming and diving this well early in theseason," said Kritizinger.

Leading the Cowgirls was freshman Laura Glaab. Glaab tookfirst place in the 1000 meter freestyle with a time of10:52.08, and she also won the 500 meter freestyle(5:19.07). Senior Katie Haywood edged out freshman KatieBigger to win the 100 meter freestyle (54.70). Haywood wasalso the Brown women's team captain.

"There were good scores and times on both sides," saidHaywood. "It was close, but everybody walked away withpositive attitudes and it was a team building meet."

The UW swimmers and divers will be in action next Fridayand Saturday at the Colorado State Early Bird Invite in Ft.Collins, Colo.
