The Wyoming swimming and diving teams competed in their annualpentathlon meet Friday afternoon at Corbett Pool. The meet consisted ofeach swimmer competing in five events--100 back, 100 breast, 100 fly,100 IM and the 100 free. The winner was determined by adding up thetimes of each event.
Senior Buddy Boysen won the men's race with a combined time of4:35.74. Boysen recorded the fastest time in the back (53.86) and thefly (50.97).
Sophomore Jake Weidert placed second with a five event time of4:36.10. Weidert swam the fastest time in the Im (55.35). SophomoreDamian Storz finished third in the overall standings with a combinedtime of 4:39.89.
Auburn transfer Mabry Fiddler paced all Cowgirl swimmers, winning thepentathlon with a combined time of 5:14.12. Fiddler just edged juniorJennifer Schurz, who placed second with a time of 5:14.92. SophomoreAllison Schmid took third with a combined time of 5:20.13.
"I was pleased with the way the team swam today," UW head coach TomJohnson said. "It was a very competitive race on both the men's andwomen's sides, everyone swam extremely hard. The whole point of thismeet was to give us an idea of what people we should put in our relayteams."
