Wyoming Swimming and Diving Struggles on the Road

The University of Wyoming swimming and diving teams suffered losses to Southwest Missouri State and the University of Kansas on Saturday in Lawrence, Kansas. The men lost to Southwest Missouri State by the score of 147-94 and the women fell, in a double dual,to Kansas 78-35 and to Southwest Missouri State 65-48.

The Cowboys came away with four event victories. The first Cowboy win came in the 400 medley relay where Ethan Maclean, Scott Usher, Galen Gough and Jon George swam a 3:29.31 to run away with the title. Jerram Chudleigh was victorious in the 200 butterfly where he swam a 1:50.64. In the 200 backstroke Ethan Maclean swam a 1:56.74 to claim the victory. Scott Usher won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:04.79.

The Cowgirls who swam a double dual against Kansas and Southwest Missouri State and were unable to come away with any event titles but still swam well. Five Cowgirls recorded third place finishes including: Jody Riskowski in the 50 freestyle, Ashley Mallett in the 200 butterfly, Janelyn Lilly in the 200 backstroke, Adrianne Gers in the 500 freestyle and Allison Schmid who placed third in the 200 breaststroke. The 200 freestyle relay team of Jody Riskowski, Katie Haywood, Lindsay Springer and Helja Vanhala placed third in the event with a time of 1:39.53.

The University of Wyoming Swimming and Diving team will return to action when both the men and women host the University of Denver on Friday, November 15. The dual will be held in Corbett Pool and is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm.
