November 16, 1998

The University of Wyoming Swimming and Diving teams competed this last Thursday, November 12, against the TCU Horned Frogs in dual action at Moby Pool in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

The Cowgirl team lost to the Horned Frogs by a score of 148-93. UW placed swimmers ahead of TCU in only three of thirteen events, but had a good meet none-the-less as ten Cowgirl swimmers had season best times and four had lifetime best times. Leading the way for Wyoming was Jessica Schiffl who finished in front of TCU in the 500 and 1,000 freestyle, and Bethany Larsen in the 50 free.

The Cowboys also lost to the Horned Frogs, as they were defeated 143-100. The UW men also finished ahead of TCU in only three of thirteen events, but had a good meet as there were 23 season best swims by the Cowboys and four lifetime best swims. Leading the way for UW was Ryan Typolt, who won the 1000 freestyle, and Robert Boysen, who won the 100 butterfly.

The other win for the Cowboy squad was once again from freshman Oscar Delgado. Delgado won the one-meter competition and finished second in the three-meter diving against some seasoned TCU divers. He finished the one-meter competition with 288.20 points and the three-meter competition with 304 points.

For the UW women divers, Laura Tierney scored 218.30 points in one-meter competition and 237 points in three-meter diving as Wyoming's top finisher, behind TCU's Angela Clark in both events.
