Wyoming Divers Compete At Wildcat Diving Invite

TUSCON, Ariz. - The University of Wyoming Cowboy and Cowgirl divers competed at the Wildcat Diving Invite in Tucson, Ariz., on Saturday.

In women's diving Cowgirl Allie Smith was the highest finisher for the 'Pokes on the 1-meter springboard. Smith placed fifth in preliminary 1-meter earlier in the day which was good enough to put her in the finals during the afternoon. In the women's final round of diving Smith dove well again placing again in fifth with a mark of 270.30.

"Allie came out and preformed really well today," UW diving coach Pat Bukowski said. "She was competing against some of the best divers in the country and she really stepped up."

Other Cowgirls competing at the Wildcat Invite were Sasha Andrie and Carolyn Wallace who were unable to make the final round of diving. Andrie placed 56th with a mark of 179.95 and Wallace placed 59th with a mark of 177.80.

In men's 3-meter springboard competition Cowboys Kyle Bogner and Derek Campbell both dove well according to Bukowski, but were unable to make the finals. Campbell placed 18th with a score of 274.60 while Bogner placed 27th with a mark of 243.50.

The divers will continue competition on the platform at the Wildcat Invite on Sunday.
