TUCSON, Ariz. -

In the opening day of the Wildcat Invite in Tucson, Ariz., the University of Wyoming Cowboy and Cowgirl diving teams had impressive performances as the men concluded the one-meter dives, while the women competed in the three-meter event.

Junior captain Stephanie Ortiz led all three-meter divers with her score of 305.60 in the field of 45. Freshman Hillary Bohler continues to perform well this season and finished in the top eight.

"It's great to have Stephanie perform so well in a very talented field and to come out and win the three-meter," said UW diving coach Ben Herdt. "Hillary has improved every meet and it showed with her personal best today."

Joining Wyoming in the invitational are UNLV, USC, Wisconsin, New Mexico State, San Diego, San Diego State, Northern Arizona, Cal State Bakersfield, San Jose State, Air Force, and BYU.

The three Cowboys that made the trip to Arizona also had notable finishes. Senior Tyler Miller made the championship round and ended with a score of 297.25, a seventh place finish. In the consolation round a pair of Cowboy sophomores led the way. Mark Murdock won the consolation round after his six dive total of 292.95 and teammate Kyle Bogner was close behind and finished second with a score of 290.10.

"With the exception of Utah, all the teams in our conference are at this invite, so it is great to go up against them and for our men to perform well with other Mountain West teams in the mix," Herdt continued.

The Wildcat Invite will continue tomorrow with the men's three-meter competition and the women's one-meter. The three day event will close out on Sunday with both men and women competing on the platform.
