TUCSON, Ariz. -

The UW diving team wrapped up competition Sunday at the Wildcat Invite in Tucson, Ariz., with three Cowboys making the championship round in the platform event.

Joining Wyoming in the invitational were UNLV, USC, Wisconsin, New Mexico State, San Diego State, San Diego, Northern Arizona, Cal State Bakersfield, San Jose State, Air Force, and BYU.

On the platform, the Pokes were led by senior Tyler Miller who came in fifth after posting a score of 255.65. Sophomore Kyle Bogner had another personal best this weekend with his six dive total of 253.65 and placed sixth. Fellow sophomore Mark Murdock finished eighth with a score of 227.65.

"Since we don't have a platform to train on anything we can do on the platform is an accomplishment," said UW diving coach Ben Herdt. The men did an outstanding job today in the platform event and I am very pleased with how we did this weekend."

Cowgirls Stephanie Ortiz and Hillary Bohler competed this weekend but did not dive today on the platform events. Earlier this weekend Ortiz won the one-meter round and broke a school record doing so with a score of 309. Bohler joined Ortiz in the one-meter championship round and finished eighth.

"It was a great weekend as a team for us. We are learning as we go but are still performing well while doing so," Herdt continued. "We had a number of personal bests this weekend and Stephanie winning the one-meter championship and breaking a school record in the process was outstanding."

The UW diving team will return to action in Austin, Texas on December 4th at the Texas Invite. The diving will run through the weekend and end on December 6th.
