Laramie, Wyo. (December 6, 2003) -- The University ofWyoming diving team competed in the Eastern Michigan InviteFriday and Saturday in Ypsilanti, Mich., placing six diversin the top-ten of the meet.
In Friday's action, junior Adam Miller was the topWyoming finisher, placing third on the 1 meter board with ascore of 281.70. Freshman John Lynch placed seventh in theevent with a score of 258.20. Both scores were season bestsfor the divers.
In women's action, freshman Saara Haapanen placed eighthon the 3 meter board with a score of 395.80. Fellowfreshman Emily Keefer also had a solid day placing 13th onthe 3 meter board with her score of 360.30.
Saturday, Miller once again led the Cowboys placing secondon the 3 meter board with a score of 438.60. Lynch followedwith a sixth place finish of 393.35.
Haapanen led the Cowgirls with a tenth place finish in the1 meter event with a score of 215.95. She was followed byKeefer's 12th place score of 207.40.
"Overall, I was very pleased with the way we dove,"said UW diving coach Russ Dekker. "I thought that we hungtough and did some really good things. I am especiallyhappy about the way Adam (Miller) dove. He had a greatweekend placing second in the 3 meter and third in the 1meter."
The diving team will rejoin the swimmers as they return toaction following the Christmas break for their annualChristmas training trip. This year both teams will travelto Mission Viejo, Calif. from Dec. 30- Jan. 14. Whilethere, they will compete in duals against UC Santa Barbaraon Jan 9 and UC Irvine on Jan. 10.
