COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming Cowboy Diver Kyle Bogner was named Mountain West Diver of the Week for his performance against Penn State on Jan. 2.
"That was the best I have ever seen Kyle dive on 1-meter. I am very proud of him," UW diving coach Pat Bukowski said. "It is good to see him putting all this together, and I hope he can keep it up for the rest of the season."
Bogner, from Centennial, Colo., placed first and second on the springboard events against Penn State in Indianapolis, Ind. He set a new school record on the 1-meter. Bogner's mark of 403.20 was more than 40 points higher than teammate Mark Murdock's record of 358.95 set last season. Bogner placed second on the 3-meter springboard with a mark of 343.05 against Penn State. Both of Bogner's marks were good enough to qualify him for the NCAA Zone `E' Diving Meet. This is Bogner's third weekly honor of the season.
The MWC men's swimmer of the week was UNLV senior Kyle Virva. On the women's side Utah junior Hannah Caron was named swimmer of the week and San Diego State junior Kristen Meier earned diver of the week.
